Welcome to this special episode, a Virginia Satir inspired meditation for finding peace and connection. May this meditation be a blessing to you, and may it bring peace and resilience to your relationships and to your life. Thank you for joining us today. [00:01:44] Speaker B: If everybody can get into a comfortable space. And I know that when we do meditations, we ready ourselves for the moments that we're going to spend together. But I really want you to embrace this moment and try to relax. I think we need this now more than ever. So just spend a little bit of time getting into a comfortable place. And if you feel comfortable, allow your eyes to close. Start taking in deep breaths. Our body is made in such a way that we need oxygen to move through our bloodstream, to bring nutrients to all parts of ourself. Take a big, deep breath. Feel the warmth of just the light that shines in this room with all these people, these lovely people beside you. Across the nation, across the world, of course there's darkness. But we know, sitting here together, that there is light. Take deep breaths. Feel the warmth of the light, the warmth of the love in this room. Our job is probably bigger now in that we enter this world with a different spirit. We bring something that this world needs. Take deep breaths. Know your place is so very important. Allow yourself to start feeling centered. Experience the harmony within yourself that you've been working on for so very long. People in the Satir world, they've worked on this, preparing for a day like this to be light, place Your feet firmly on the ground, and feel the connection between you and the earth beneath you. We're not alone. We're connected to each other. We're not alone. We're connected to the universe, drawing energy right through the ground, in the earth, into our body. Experience your body in the seat that you're in. Your feet on the ground, feeling fully supported, supported by the chair, the earth, and the lovely people that are gathered here today. Again, bring your attention to your breath. Inhale deeply, feeling your lungs. Exhale slowly. You will need your strength today. Feel the rhythm of your breath, the natural flow of life within you. That has not changed. There's a deep richness who you are in the light you bring. With each breath, you connect with the quiet, unshakable center inside where you are always whole, always supported. That has not changed. As you breathe in, bring your awareness to any fear and anxiety that you might be experiencing, any fear or anxiety that might be present. Perhaps there's fear about the future, anxiety about the present moment, or even anger or worry about the people that make up this world, the way they think, what motivates them. Maybe your worry is connected to the relationships that are closest to you. The people you love, the people that you have great concern for. Live into your five freedoms. Acknowledge these feelings without judgment. They're natural, they're human, and they're a part of being fully alive in this moment. Yeah, even these feelings, the reminders that you're alive and they're motivators to the love that needs to well up and be expressed. Feel the feelings. Not what you ought, but what you feel. Now imagine these feelings as a tight knot in your heart. And with each exhale, gently release just a bit of that tightness. Deep breaths in. Release the knot just a little bit. Deep breath in. Exhaling, releasing the knot. Picture it loosening, softening. You don't need to force it, just breathe into it, allowing space around it, allowing yourself to let go little by little, breath by breath. This knot will not be a resource for you, but your awareness of light and love that you carry will be your companion as you continue to breathe. Let's take a journey within the place of all your resources and where they live. This is your internal wellspring, the part of you that holds strength, resilience, kindness and wisdom. It is always there, always ready, and it has carried you through countless moments of challenge. Now picture yourself stepping into this place. Take a moment to feel the presence of these resources within you. Feel your courage as a steady warmth in your chest. Feel Your kindness as a gentle light in your heart. Feel your wisdom as a calm, clear voice in your mind. You are never alone. You are filled with these gifts and the ability to choose how you meet each moment. You have your feelings. Your feelings. They manifest and beg for expression. But your feelings are not the only thing you have. You also have all the resources within you to even comfort yourself, to find harmony in the midst of chaos. Let these internal resources rise and strengthen, filling you with you, Filling you up with a deep sense of peace and clarity. You may have fears, and yet you also have strength. You may have anxiety, and yet you also have calm. Both are here, and they are allowed to exist together. Now let's prepare ourselves to communicate with others in a way that fosters connection and understanding, even when emotions run high. Virginia spoke of the ingredients of an interaction as a tool to help us communicate authentically and compassionately. We can tap into tools like this with our sensory awareness. We can bring ourselves fully into this present moment, paying attention to what is here, right in front of you, without jumping to conclusions. What do you see? What do you hear? This is your sensory awareness, and it keeps you grounded in the truth of now. Thoughts. Notice your thoughts that come up for you. Feelings. Identify any feelings within you. Acknowledge them gently. Be aware of any expectations you may have. Expectations about others, about yourself, or about the future. Acknowledge these expectations and see if they're serving you or if they're creating tension. Set an intention to be authentic, compassionate and open with your communication with others. Choose to lead with your strengths, with your courage and kindness, and to listen with compassion. So many people around you may be very angry, hurting, confused. Imagine yourself speaking to someone with whom you may have a different perspective. Yes, we honor others in the context, but you also should honor yourself. Maybe there are some conversations you don't need to be a part of today just to take care of yourself. Maybe there's some that you step into because it blesses you. It blesses them in the chaotic context that we're in. With each breath, feel this wisdom, this clarity and this kindness filling you from the top of your head to the tips of your toes. As you move back into the world, know that you carry these inner resources with you. Your calm, your courage, your compassion. When you are ready, take a few more deep breaths. Slowly, gently opening your eyes and returning to the present, carrying this sense of peace and connection with you into the rest of your day. You have everything you need within you to meet this moment, to be present to yourself and to others.
